Dales Way Relay Record

Dales Way Relay Record - 10/05/06 12:50 PM

I wonder if anyone could tell me or point me in the right direction for where I can find out if there is any sort of record for doing the DW in a 4 leg relay? I have read through previous posts and couldn't see anything although I assume a relay would have to beat an individual (18 hours?).

The reason for asking is that we intend to do it for Cancer Research and want to put some context to the challenge (although don't anticipate getting close to any record). We are a mixed ability team so can't take on the whole walk (although some of us will walk back afterwards), but intend to run / walk as appropriate and hopefully make it an enjoyable experience for all. Any help would be appreciated.

Im sure the Dales Way record is nearer 13 hours than 18. However the man who will know is Martin Stone of the Fell Runners Association. He keeps a log of long distance records, attempts etc
You can contact him on 0870 766 1792
or 'E' mail [email protected]
Hope this helps

Not too sure if a relay record exists for this walk.It might be worth contacting Tony Wimbush of West Yorks LDWA.

If a solo record exists I should imagine it would be around the 12 hour mark.

The route is ideal for a relay run as it has plenty of road crossings and the stages could be broken down into 6-10 miles sections.
