Just to let you know that mother (75) and daughter (44) can walk 190 miles in blistering heat and still find things to talk about.
Will post more details later as promised
Cheers

Well done to you both!
The weather we've had recently is an additional challenge you probably didn't need.

Look forward to hearing your full account.

You really made me want to do the C2C next year. Age is no barrier and people say once you reach 40 you're over the hill (pardon the punt) I'm 50 in a few days time and am fitter now than when I was in my 20's, though I was 6 pints a night and 30 cigs a day then.

Well Done On Your Crossing.

Go for it, Marty.

I did it in June/July to "celebrate" my 50th birthday. I'm still basking in the glow of it.

Well done Debbie and Gwen. It's a great achievement and a great feeling, innit?

Congrats. Debbie and Gwen, We completed the walk on 22nd July 06 having endured similar heat conditions, so I can appreciate what you had to endure, I am 'only' 65, and my colleague 55 ish,and hope I am in as fit a condition in 10 years time, we hope to do Lady Annes way next, as we have both got the long distance walking 'bug'. Well done again.

Great job! We finished the C2C, our first long distance walk in the middle of June, 2006 in that same heat. I'm 59 and my wife is 2 years behind me.

We loved it so much that we are already planning next year's walk - combined Dales Way and Lady Anne's

Now if only one of my grown children had that same desire to walk... "Why walk when you can drive there?"

Well done we just finished at St Bees yesterday. Did anyone see the little black dog Charlie carrying his own pack. I also met Heatha and her dog Cassie in Kirby Stephen.

Thanks for all your congratulations
Nice to think that we may of inspired someone else to try the walk.
I'm now busy writing up my journal and hope to post it on the Walking Places website if someone gets back to me to tell me how.
We had a fantastic trip, meeting so many lovely people, both fellow walkers and B&B hosts.
Did anyone else meet Steve and Sean aka 'The blister boys' We lost track of them after Danby Wiske, hope they made it to RHB - we were amazed they were able to walk anywhere on those feet! Also Tracy, a lone walker from Seattle who had an infectious giggle and a tendancy to get lost - hope she found RHB.
I could go on but I'll save it for the journal - be patient....
Cheers, Deborah

Deborah

I am sure that Lonewalker will be in touch with details on how you can add a journal to his website, or you can contact him on the link from the site - www.walkingplaces.co.uk

If you need a photo gallery creating can I suggest you look at www.kodakgallery.co.uk. This is a free service allowing you to upload as many pictures as you want. You can then share your album with others by e-mailing them a link or adding this link into your journal with an option for those viewing to go straight to the album or if you want a little more security setting up a login name and password. Uploading pictures is even easier if you download the high speed programme from the kodak site.

Look forward to reading about your exploits in the sun.

Hi Deborah

I have received both your emails and have sent a reply to both of them. I guessed from the second mail you sent that the first reply didnt get through - I guess the second reply hasnt either!

My email address is available using the little button at the top of this box, send me one directly (rather than through the web site), maybe that will help?

Steady on with photographs like that, or you might get jack222 stalking either or both of you with his next countryside jaunt in mind !

Great stuff! If we could bottle the buzz from completing long distance walks and share it what a great world we'd live in.

Our sentiments exactly.
At present I'm busy writing up a journal so maybe we can share some of the buzz - look out for it on walking places

Deb. 'jack222' is a "fit" male who uses this chat forum as a means of procuring female companions for his countryside jaunts.
