Daughter and I will be hiking the C2C next May, and were hoping to stay at either New Ing Farm or Fell House. Fell house has new owners, and I believe that New Ing Farm is for sale. Any other recommendations for Shap?

Widgeon, try the Hermitage...01931-716671. nice rooms, all en suite, and quite cheap.
If no joy there, try the Bulls Head, the Crown Inn,or the Kings arms.
Have'nt got their numbers .... sorry.

We stayed at Brookfield Guest House August '05. Tea and homemade tarts on arrival. Margaret Brunskill is the owner and the booking information is on the Sherpa site. A very clean and well appointed room. We had our laundry done and a wonderful packed lunch. The Greyhound is just down the street and we had our evening meal there although I understand that Margaret does some evening meals. When you leave in the morning you are on the path even though you had to walk the length of Shap to get to Brookfields.
I highly recommend this B & B.

We stayed at Brookfield. A wonderful place to stay and excellent evening meals. Suggest you read walkers comments on the Sherpa Website on each place. We found them a great help.

We stayed at the Greyhound. Welcomed as soon as we entered the place. A great pint and good basic, clean accomadation. Highly recommend it. Only downside is that it is the far sided of Shap (South).

Brookfield is the place to stop, it may be further to get to, but your extra efforts are rewarded by Margaret's home from home B&B which gets 10 out of 10.Plus you are straight on the trail next morning.

We stayed at the Greyhound in Shap (wrong end of the village- come on guys you've just walked 16 miles and you're moaning about another couple of hundred yards!) -
I would thoroughly recommend the accommodation and the "Lamb Henry" was to die for.
Sorry all you Veggies out there.
