We will be arriving Manchester airport 9.40 am Sunday April 30.
It looks like the best way is train 13.45 landing in whitehaven at 20.13, then taxi from there to St. Bees. Would have preferred to leave Manchester earlier if possible.
Bus looks more or less the same.
Any suggestions?

Hi, if you try this web site you will find details of how to get to St Bees from Manchester on a Sunday afternoon. May involve a bus journey for part of the trip but you will get there. http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/

I pondered this same issue at some length when we did the C to C last year. Rather than hanging around the airport and on a train for an entire day while jet-lagged and disoriented, we booked Airport Transport Sevices out of Kendall to pick us up and deliver us to St. Bees which they did masterfully. Cost varies depending on number of people in your party. At 4 people, it starts getting more competitive. Hope this helps.\Ron

Thanks Calron, I was just able to arrange to stay at www.abbeyfarm-stbees.co.uk
Owner, Steve, will pick us from Manchester airport and deliver us to his B&B for a reasonable fee.
Because of a KLM plane rescheduling, we would be arriving at an odd time, too late for any same day public transportation. So I changed the flight to a day earlier.
Solved the problem very conveniently.
Think I've (almost) got all my ducks in a row now!

I can't find Airport Transport Services on the web. Does anyone know how to locate them?
