It does look a little cooler at the weekend, Steve. I'm just off for 3 days walking in the Dales with work..... and it is going to be very hot!

Leaving Glasgow early on Saturday morning train to York then Scarborough. Pick up at 12:30 then minibus to Larpool Hall outside Whitby. Look for Heatha and dog (what colour of Lab?)on 30th at Kirkby. Hope it gets cooler although we have not been having as much sun in the north. Cheers to all (even Norman)

There are many reasons why Norman will NOT be meeting the flying Scot.

Not least of which, I guess, is the fact that this chappie looks like the archetypal 'tight as a nut' sweaty sock, a man usually a stranger to liberal spending.

Indeed, he looks like he's just dropped out of a scottish charity shop boutique!

Am I wrong, but is he the type of chap that still remembers who owes him what for money lent to chums at school during sorties to the tuck shop!!?

My son and I will be starting out from St. Bees on August 28th and will arrive in Robib Hood Bay on Sept, 11.

I'll be walking on my 60th B-day...I hope!

Hi Greg,

I will be setting off from St. Bees on Aug. 28 too. I have been planning this trip for over a year, but now that it is little more than a month away, I am getting very nervous! Please keep your eyes out for a scared American woman.

And I will be celebrating my 36th birthday on the walk!

Nicky

Here thats one terrible assumption to make about someone you have never met Sam Peeps. Especially from a "man of the cloth" a minister. Scots are the most generous people who you will meet. Less of the charity shop gibe. I have three outfits of Highland wear and
you would spend nearly 700 a time. If anyone doing this walk meets us they will be greeted in the most friendly manner no matter what nationality. Maybe you should read up on some serious Burns. "A man's a man for A' that"

I'm merely explaining Norman's thought processes, as I guess them to be...and...engaging in my alter-ministry, good hearted leg pulling with a touch of honest observation!

Now tell us honestly, did YOU really pay anything like 700 for your own?? Be honest now.

OK Sam fair enough, but lets not let banter get personal. Yes as to your question. three outfits have cost me around 1500. Shoes(brogues)socks. etc need replacing. other things you tend to add such as kilt pins, sgian dhus, sporrans and so on. Was going to bring one with me but too much weight.
Looking forrad to meeting a lot of thoroughly nice folk and enjoy the experience.
Especially E to W that way you meet everyone.
Have just been topping up hip flasks with 12yrs single malt for end of trip.
