a dear friend of mine has recently been injured in an accident and is left partial paralized.we plan to do a charity ride for his aid along the route, is there any way we can get permission for 3 people to carry this out on mountain bikes??????

Sorry to hear about your friend. Please don't use it as an excuse to introduce cycling along the way. there are lots of other routes you could consider including a coast to coast ride that shadows the coast to coast walk (book by tim woodcock), the three rivers cycle route etc. contact sustrans 0117 929 0888

Please do not consider using Mountain Bikes on the route. I don't know the circumstances of your friend's accident but I can assure you that there are plenty of opportunities along the way for accidents to happen even when walking at my, generally, snail's pace, never mind on a bike. A small point but cycling is not allowed on footpaths, only bridleways, and as most of the route is a footpath you would find it difficult to keep to the route.
There are a lot of places on the coastal areas where it is difficult for walkers to pass each other.
I have nothing against Mountain Bikers but please keep to bridleways and keep off footpaths.
