As a group we are looking to complete the cleveland way to raise money for charity. We are all fairly accomplished walkers and wondered what an aggresively realistic time to complete it in would be.

Iíd say 5 or 6 days. Most people do it in 9 days, but this includes some fairly short (10mile) days. I reckon you could get to Saltburn in 3 days (stopping at Osmotherley and Kildale) fairly easily. Then save at least another day somewhere on the coast (which has many more places to stop). All depends how aggressive this doable plan needs to be.

Thanks Kevin.

We were want to attempt the walk in four days.First thought are to stop at Osmotherly, Guisborough and Whitby. We realy need to know if those kind of distances are feasable for the terrain we will be covering.

Four days is okay.I have normally taken betwwen 3-7 days with backpacking kit.

Schedule:1.Helmsley to Suttonbank.Half day to start with.

2.Sutton to Killdale.A very hard middle section but the last 7 miles are easy.About 32 miles.

3.Killdale to Ravenscar.A big one,about 35miles.

4.Ravenscar to Filey. An easy 20 miles to the finish.

Its a tough schedule but is not impossible if you are fit.

I think your all mad, but the best of luck in any case.

Iíd have thought getting to Osmotherly in a day would be pretty easy. The rest of it would be quite a challenge. Somethingís wrong in Tonyís figures since there are about 15 miles missing from the total(Kildale to Ravenscar must be over 40 miles in a day!). T&Ds plan splits the days up a bit better.

Hope you enjoy it. Well Iím sure you wonít have time to enjoy it, but I hope you raise lots of money.

Kevin

I think you are right about Killdale to Ravenscar.I left Killdale at 7am and arrived in Ravenscar at 10pm.I think the distance works out at about 43 miles.

Thanks Tony and Kevin. Four days it is - and a long time after spent questioning our sanity! If any of the walking group grumble too much I'll let then know that you'd of given them a 3 day schedule Tony - compared to that we're going for a leisurely stroll!
