In late Sept, I'm planning to start out on the Cleveland Way, than switch over to the C2C so I can finish what I started last fall. Accomodation info on the C2C is quite available but seems to be sparse for Sutton Bank. Does anyone have suggestions or recomendations for B&B's there. I'll be walking with 2 first timer ladies so I don't want to stray far off the route. Any help will be appreciated.

My dad and I walked the Cleveland Way in 2000 and stayed with a very pleasant lady in a lovely little cottage (http://www.bbdirect.co.uk/bbshow_town.asp?Q=bb%7CL4300642) very close to Sutton Bank. We dropped our rucksacks off and then walked the Sutton Bank "spur" around the gliding field that evening, so that we could continue after breakfast in the morning. There's a pub (Hambleton Inn?) a few doors down from her for evening meal.

Thanks Sharon, for the website and B&B recommendation. Thats probably where we will land since it seems to be the most convenient.

Its strange there isn't more activity on this forum. I would have thought the Cleveland Way to be more popular!! By the way do you have any favorite B&B's in Helmsley?

Hi Gregg
I don't live very far from the Cleveland Way (in Billingham) and I still don't know why I haven't done it in full yet. It is lovely.

I can't recall the name of the place we stayed in Helmsley - it was a farm just outside the town where we left our car for the week, but that's about all I remember. Sorry!

I did the Cleveland Way in June and it is a great walk. The contrast between the moors and the coast is spectacular. I've no idea why it isn't more popular.

I actually stayed in Sutton Bank on the night of the wild, flash flood. It was incredible!!! I stayed at a place called High House Farm which is about 5-10 in walk fro the Hambleton Inn. It's a working farm and v friendly. Tel 01845 597557.

I stayed at Griff Farm near Helmsley Tel 01439 771600. Again, a working farm but v pleasant and hospitable.

Enjoy the walk - it's gorgeous.

I agree on High Hambleton House. Smashing big room there, not on suite, but as they only have two rooms, it's no big deal. Huge breakfast. All for 25. I was there a week ago.
Good food at The Hambleton Inn.
