I live further south so I just come up the A19 and hang a right, but I know those roads around Hawnby very well!

Yes, I have! But a while back. Not at this time of year due to ground nesting birds.

I went to it last Sunday, there is a small path going up to it from the cairn beside the CW at the top of the hill.

Yes, I have been there in autumn but I walk with a big dog and won't leave the path in nesting season. It's quite hard for the dog in nesting/lambing time as I have to tether her to my backpack! She is well behaved but I'm not risking having somebody taking a pot shot at her. To be fair, the farmers don't know that she's terified of sheep and the gamekeepers don't know that she lives amongst pheasants and has a total disinterest in game birds. Her major failing is rabbits. She thinks they want to play with her. So, this autumn, we'll pick up that track again and revisit!

I walked a bit more of it from the top of Cold Moor to Urra Moor summit last Sunday, and today i walked a bit from the stepping stones at Nettledale to Rievalaux Bridge, both as part of a circular walk.

I have walked the whole of the way last august with a companion. Day1 Parked the car at Filey at b&b. Day2 Train to Scarborough and bus to Helmsley by midday. Walked to Sutton Bank and b&b. Day 3 walked to Ingleby Cross and b&b. Day 4 walked to Great Ayton 23 miles, a long day! Day 5 to Saltburn and b&b. Day 6 to Runswick Bay and b&b. Day 7 to Robinhood Bay and hostel. Day8 to Scarborough. Day9 (half day) to Filey. A great walk half moor and half coast in fine weather.

Walked all of the cleveland way this june on my own apart from my small dog (my first Long distance walk)it was fantastic!, the best bits for me were Helmsley-sutton bank, started at 6am and the scenery was magical at that time in the morning, and definately osmotherley-clay bank top (the only time I saw any other walkers-they were all doing the coast to coast), had such a good time am going back in september to do helmsley-kildale section again!!
