No....... I'm screwed. It's got to be East Midland Airport otherwise it's going to cost an arm and a leg, plus a lot more time in transit thru' other airports. Unless of course I find a friendly highjacker!!!!

Oldun,
Some other possibilities ;
- extend your walk by making East Midlands Airport to Helmsley the first section. I can suggest a nice route for this bit if you like,
- get St Bees guest house owner Steve to drive you from EMA to Helmsley,
- avoid the problem of getting from EMA to Helmsley, forget the Cleveland Way and instead do the Robin Hood Way which is only a cockstride away from EMA.

Here's what I'd do - and I'm a local! (Pickering).

From York (or Malton) Station get the Coastliner bus from immediately outside to Pickering. (via Malton) Then once at Pickering get the 128 bus that runs between Scarborough and Helmsley. - About every 20 minutes.

The actual journey time is about an hour and a quarter, but I'm not certain how it all links up. You'd have to check the Coastliner bus timetable (available on-line) and the Scarborough and district bus timetable (ditto)

I'm off very early in the morning for a little jaunt and won't be back till Monday next. So please, nobody think I am being rude if I don't reply for a while.

Best regards to All.
