Its a while since we last did the Way. Is Cam Houses on Cam Fell still thriving and the ideal spot over the Fell. Last time we went the farmers wife had it sewn up. Camping, Bunk Barn, B&B and tea & cakes for through walkers, excellent.

Last time I was here was after the foot and mouth crisis and the business was in trouble.I believe it changed hands. The bunk barn was no longer used in 2002 but she was still doing B&B and teas for walkers.I believe the woman who owned the place came from Blackpool and I talked to her in 1999.She had big plans for the place and most were sound put nobody could have predicted the foot and mouth crisis.I should imagine she lost 6 months of business in 2001.Most of the lost months were in the trading season so you could say she lost almost a years revenue.

Did Dales Way summer 2003, at that time no bunkhouse, nor even refreshments. I've since heard a rumour it's now doing B&B. Can anyone confirm this?

Just did the Dales way, and regret to say it was closed for teas etc as we walked past. In fact it looked quite deserted, apart from two small girls playing who obviously lived there but frankly looked too young to be unattended.

I was there two weeks ago, again deserted no sign of anyone. there is a tap on one of the walls though, so you can top up your water.
