I am thinking of doing the Dales way this summer with my dog (a reasonably well behaved Border collie). Has anybody done this and could you recommend accomodation?
Thanks, Connie

Have walked this route with my two collies some 4 years ago - but camped, so can't help with o/n accommodation. However these pubs welcome them - The New Inn at Appletreewick (But not the Craven Arms). The Kings Head, Kettlewell, The White Lion, Cray. The George Hubberholme. The Sportsman at Cow Gill (But not in the bar - only allowed in guest bedrooms!). The (I think) Anglers Arms at Burneside.

I assume most that allow dogs in the bar, also allow them to B&B?

Livestock abound along the route - take care, if your dog 'investigates' sheep, and be aware that cattle may 'investigate' your dog!

Also hundreds of ladder styles, which my older dog began to struggle on, after a few days of leaping down from 1 - 1.5m dozens of times a day.

Generally though - a pretty good walk for a dog to do! - Repeated several sections (and several pubs!) since on day walks, with both dogs.

I am not a dog owner/walker but I have walked the Dales Way on 3 occasions in the last few years and I have seen walkers with their dogs on occasions at

Knowles Lodge, Howgill, Near Appletreewick.
Romany Cottage, Buckden.
Bull Hotel, Sedbergh.

You would obviously have to check that this stillo applies. This Sherpa accommodation site also gives a lot of very useful information about places where dogs are allowed. You will have the additional problem of single supplements in some places. Good luck with your research and hopefully with your walk - The Dales Way have fantastic scenery along the majority of the route.

Walked the Dales Way last year with my dog. I have a spreadsheet of where I stayed. If you'd like it I can email it to you.

I did it quite a few years ago with my dog, but also camped, so sorry no info on B&Bs.

Lovely walk though, your dog will enjoy.

But the Koreans eat dogs as a favourite dish.

I recently walked up Snowdon with some Koreans. It was bizarre to hear of them happily talking about what we generally think of as outrageous.
