Hi all,

Anyone know where I can get a reasonable # of GPS wapoints for the Dales Way? I understand it would be hard to get lost but such waypoints are great to estimate each day's progress (Do we have enough time for a pint?)

Many thanks

Sorry, but I didn't find any last year when I was looking for them.

Hello again Gulf Islanders,

If you can't find any I will create them for you using Memory Map and forward them on. When you have got your schedule sorted just let me know and I'll sort you the waypoints. It will give me something to do this autumn/winter.

Journeyman,

Thank you for your most generous offer, we are just in the process of planning next year's walk and we will take you up on your offer later on.

Like most Canadians we do things differently. Our first LDW was C2C and next year we will try something "lighter" although almost as long. Our favourite part of the walk was the Yorkshire Dales -because of the people and the river valleys (I know it's sacreligious not to have The Lakes as your favourite)

Next year we plan to do The Dales Way and then the Lady Anne's Way (6 days each). We're in the process of getting books recommended by the nice people on this chat forum and then we'll select overnight stops, etc. I'll be in touch.

many thanks again

At Buckden, stay at Tim & Gwen Berry's - Romany Cottege - superb - not to be missed!

Heatha
Thank you. We have seen favourable comments elsewhere so we will plan to stay there (and not eat at The Buck?)

Tim and Gwen will keep you up to speed with the Buck Inn but the Village Restaurant is an experience not to be missed anyway. It's shut on Wednesday (I think) so try and avoid Wednesday night at Buckden, if possible.
