I am starting from Ilkley Tuesday 14th August. Coming from Australia, I'm not sure if the recent or June wild weather in England has affected the path unduly. Should I be packing my wellies and snorkel, or will my trusty Skarpas do.
Can anyone give me some updated info.
Thanks
Barney

The weather at the moment is fine and it could stay like this for a while. Although we had the rain bad in June the midlands/south had the worst recently. You shouldn't need your snorkel but bring sunscreen, a hat, lots of water as well as your normal raingear. Have a good trip, you'll love it.

Hello Barney

I've been walking on sections of the Dales Way in Wharfedale and Dentdale, and more generally in the Dales, during and since the heavy rains - no problems at all on the Dales Way. I hope and think that you will have a great time.

Incidentally if you are passing through Kettlewell between 11-19 August you will see the Annual Scarecrow Festival which I would suggest will be a treat for you.

They now have Annual Scarecrow Festivals in nearly all the villages around here. I would be glad to get away from them.
