Saw a programme on TV 18 months ago maybe, about a bloke who did it, and he was joined by his girlfriend for several days, who also got stripped.
The camera's showed him going into the village shops, some didnt mind and thought it was fun, but some others got a bit shirty with him and chased him out.
Can't remember his name or what the programme was called.
Bit of an eye opener to say the least.

Argo.

I don't think that walking in the nude over a long distance is a good idea for old people; as the first sign of aging is when bits either fall off or keep leaking. Could make a bit of a mess on the Queens Highway.

Like most walkers I go walking for the scenery and that definatly does NOT include nudes. Some people think that by daring to go nude, makes them special, more uninhibited than the rest, they have seen the light, its the natural thing, its total freedom etc. in their own private space, fine but outdoors in a public place, its not normal, unhealthy, unsightly, downright ignorant, and in your face.

The naked rambler is currently serving another jail sentence yet some what lengthier this time. His girlfriend has gone back to her day job yet still wonders about naked in her spare time. I think he has manged John O Groats to Lands end 1.5 times in the nude. I think it is pretty funny really.

Going nude cuts down on pack weight and I assume the nude means fully nude and so no boots!

It seems to me that the general consensus is that if you have a body of a greek god/goddess, then fine. If not, keep your kit on.
This seems to me to be shallow minded and trite. And I wholeheartedly agree!

I now know what this means but I had to ask the sender and his reply was:

"the nationally recognised(?) abbreviation."

Does this put me in the same sphere as my brother who want said of someone really famous "Well he can't be that famous if I haven't heard of him." But as I said to him at the time, "That says more about you than him."

Thanks RLW,

I feel often that the world gets too full of abbreviations. Every company seems to want an acronym. There is only one funny one - at car bumper sticker level of funny - "Ban All TLA's"

The Naked Ramblers forum!

http://nakedwalk.org/index.php?option=com_forum&Itemid=38

I think its daft and has more to do with ego and attention seeking than freedom of expression. After watching the Naked Rambler programme I got the distinct impression that Mr Gough was suffering from mental health problems.

Yeah Sam......it's just a man with his goolies wedged in a Tam o'Shanter.
If all the sexually insecure, uptight humourless prigs could step to the left of their potties they might see a photo of joyous liberation and expression.
Interesting, and ultimately healthy, that we can view the same photo and have such divergent reactions.
I wonder if there is the same disagreement between all those who have read "You disgusting, sad, piece of scottish shit."
Is anyone prepared to paint that comment in a positive light?
Guess not....they're all to busy having a frenzy over a naked man !!

Sam,please stick around. You have great purpose around these parts .

Its possible to take the photo in two ways.It might well be an example of "joyous liberation and expression" to some people but others might see it as someone expressing a personal fetish.Regardless of which it is there are laws in place to stop this kind of behaviour in public places. Most coppers would called it "flashing" rather than "joyous liberation".

TonyK......your initial reaction to this photo was to assume he was indulging in a "pedal and crank".
What does that say about your Psychosexual Profile?
Do you wear socks with your sandles?

My initial reaction was that not only is Peter Kemp of stout stock and well aimed humour but he is a true Nature Boy.
Then YOU,TonyK,came along and painted YOUR picture of Mountain Top Onanism and sullied the beauty of Petes artistic statement.

Methinks the K stands for Kinky !!!

'Scottish Shit'?! Arse.

Clothes or no clothes - freedom of choice is what counts. Norman your intollerance of others and blatant racism does not surprise me in the least considering your general reaction to everything and anything posted on these forums.

I agree with Sam - these forums have become a bit boring and a bit nasty. Bingo Bongo tries to have a wee bit of banter and is shot down for it (albeit, truly wonderful at holding his own so continues to make me smile). New members come on and ask for a little advice only to be told to basically piss off - why should walking be such an elitist activity??

Draconian laws are not necessarily a good thing - but yes, I guess as citizens we should abide by them.

Psychosexual profile? Jeez,it makes me sound like some kind of potential serial killer!

Racism? I bet if Norman had made such comments about the Welsh he would have had his door knocked down, been finger printed and had DNA samples taken.Funny how the law dosen't apply to the Scots.

Not that the photographs displayed on this thread are necessarily a representative selection, but
- is it only men that walk in the nude ?
- why does he appear to be standing, not walking ?
- how many miles a day does he manage on average ?

Welcome back LL. What you say is quite frightening, especially when you do so much walking. But maybe it was because you were constantly rushing to keep up delivery timing without taking proper rest or meal breaks.

Oldun, Thanks, and I'm sure you're right there. On the day I was taken ill (a) it was one of the hottest days of the year and (b) with having a dislocated shouler the pevious weekend then working my 'day off' I had not had anything like a break for a fortnight. Furthermore, the brain scan showed scaring that indicated a previous stroke some time ago which must have been a day about five years ago when I was ill but didn't have medical treatment, a day (a) that was very hot when (b) I got in a bit of a panic with friends waiting for a delayed train not knowing whether we would catch a connection, etc. The lessons then might be to be careful in hot weather and to rest, and not get too stressed

I think it depends how severe the stroke is, and mine thankfully can't be described as one of the most severe.
It was devastating on the Monday evening, being unable to walk or talk, but I had improved the next day and felt a lot better on by the Wednesday.
I'm getting about more now ( in town this lunchtime then the Wetherspoons briefly and the Post Office on the way walking home ) and have every intention of being back at work at the beginning of next month but being quite a strenuous job and unsure what progress I can continue to make I can't yet be too sure about when I will return.
