Has anyone else on here met the Queen ? I did and talked to her for a while about fifteen years ago and my daughter did and gave her some flowers last year. I also met Prince Philip many years ago.

Well,he's gone, and as much as I didn't like him,he did give a bravura performance in his last PMQ and the responce he gave to a Liberal Democrat MP about the relationship between the State and the Church was well measured and to be honest it was the type of answer deserved.
Now Gordon Brown is now our Prime Minister,I just hope we don't learn that the wrong man has been in power for the last ten years.

At least Gordon Brown will be doing well if we do learn that. Let's just hope that he too doesn't make one big mistake to be remembered by in years to come.

Methinks some recent postings have been deleted from this thread. Why ?

If my memory serves me correctly, an american asked whether he should avoid London on account of the car bombs and the response was that he should go there as one was far more likely to be killed in a road accident than by a bomb - most useful and helpful advice I thought. He could also be reminded that every year about 900,000 people die in the United Kingdom and that for many years NONE of these deaths are due to terrorist activity.

It's all a question of what you get used to.

In London we have grown up with the Blitz, atomic bomb threats, IRA bombings and now the lastest wave of Muslem bombings.

In the States they have grown up with murders, rapes, hangings, gasings, electrocutions and computer games that kill everything in sight.

When things go on long enough one gets used to them and they go un-noticed.

Just another statistic.

Its not the bombs that scare me but the thought of one of these nutters operating on me in hospital.I just hope for the sake of their patients they are better at the day job.

Sadly not. I was talking today with a woman treated recently by one of them at the neurology department at North Staffs Hospital, she had been given an MRI scan, he asks might she be pregnant, 'what at 66?' she replies, to which he just looked blank, his mind obviously on other matters.
