The trip went very well, spectactular scenery, superb rail system, decent hotel, good weather, so nothing much to complain about - except that using the Eurostar means going through France !
Two postcards sent, one to my mother and one to my brother.

Thanks. Yes, brilliant. I can't think of anywhere abroad I would rather spend time in than Switzerland. You must like it too having emigrated there, assuming that's the case, but how have you coped with their strict nationality laws if that's not too personal a question ?

Tell you a story. I spent a lifetime working and living all around the world, different religions, races, colours and creeds, starting during the Cold War era. At the time of Maggie a lot of us lost our jobs and I just could not resettle back in UK. So my wife and I, along with our baby daughter, packed 4 suitcases and drove off into Europe to find work. A company in Switzerland employed me and handled all the official details. All we had to do was adapt, work, learn the languages, integrate, obey the laws and customs, make friends. The rest is history.

Very interesting, and pleased it's gone well for you. I agree entirely that Britain's not the same since Thatcher's wrecking spree but some of us have our roots a bit too deep here.

If there is nothing constructive to say then I would appreciate it if the petty comments could be discontinued.

A sentiment I, as originator of this thread, would agree with entirely.
