Greetings folks
My wife and I finished the WHW over seven days on 14th June. We stayed an extra day in Fort William and climbed Ben Nevis in perfect weather conditions!
We were quite lucky with the weather, two days of light showers and sunshine and one morning of drizzle, the rest of the time the sun was out - even managed to get across Rannock Moor in the dry, well almost!
Overall we enjoyed the walk but didn't seem to get the same 'buzz' you get from walking the C2C. We are not sure why this was. It might be that some parts of the WHW are fairly tedious, or it might be the nature of the trail which is mainly on old tracks or forest paths. It just didn't feel as meaningful as the C2C did. I don't think I ever looked at my map for directions just followed the waymarks. The first time we completed the C2C changed me as a person the WHW didn't.
We booked baggage transfer and B & B's through AMS who were great - no problems at all.
We really did enjoy the walk, but would we do it again - no. Would we do the C2C for a fourth time, definately - tomorrow.
Having said all that I wish we were back there now rather than sat behind this desk - wouldn't even mind the loch lomond section again!
