Latest LDWA magazine has details of the forthcoming Golden Jubilee of the Pennine Way, 50 years old in 2015. The anniversary weekend is 25th/26th April 2015,with multiple celebrations, including Day Challenges. BBC also apparently planning some PW anniversary programmes.

Ah I see, now that explains something.
I received a phone call a few weeks ago from a lady on behalf of BBC television. She had read my bloggs about the Spine Race.
Basically she told me that they were currently filming a well known explorer (Cant remember who it was) walking the Pennine Way. This would include people he came across during his walk. Although just an idea, she wanted to know if I would be interested in going for a training run along the way and meet up with this guy, all to be filmed. I told her I would be interested but was injured at the time. She said she would be in touch, however I have not heard anything so assume, that's that.
She did tell me it was due to be screened next year, so My betting is that it will be during the 50th celebrations.
Dave.

They were filming some of it when I was walking it earlier in the year although I didn't see them. They had been in contact with Joyce/Colin asking for "suitable" names to interview. Apparantly ITV is doing something similar as well.

The guy`s name is Paul Rose he is more well known for diving programmes he is really nice not at all a`luvvy` and they seem to have filmed people and places relevant to the Pennine way. It is to be screened on BBC2 early spring as part of the Golden Jubilee Celebrations. If anyone is planning to walk it next year I would get planning now, this is the first year we have ever had to buy a next years diary before August.

Just thinking about walks for 2015 and I am thinking about doing the Pennine Way again. taking an extra day around the wall and staying in a few different places. Just hope it doesn't get over busy after all the BBC coverage with their 3 parter

The same team from BBC are going to be filming during the Spine for a different programme (a current affairs programme but I can`t remember which one she said) so remember to look glamarous folk while you are running 268 miles in sub-zero temps.
