I did have a go at setting up a 'SPOT Adventure' this year... clearly don't know what the f*** I'm doing lol, but the 'check in' messages are shown (start/end of day) and the tracker has plotted a reasonably accurate route here

LWM,

You're amazing! I really enjoyed reading your journal.

Well done.

Yes really good. Enjoyed this more than thinking about you at the time when I was tracking your progress before retiring to my bed!

Brilliant Mick, I was thinking you had gone on strike, but it was worth waiting for. I may have ago at your route next Spring if I am in good walking order.
Well done once again.
Dave.

Ha ha... you do realise any form of encouragement is going to help tempt me back! Though I must admit I would like to get to try Mary's marmalade... Urgh, will it never end..? This obsession has been part of my life now for the past 10yrs...

I can't believe I'm actually plotting another line!!! (via Goathland) I think going plant-based and watching 'The Game Changers' has inspired me to give it another shot!
So far results are encouraging - now 4 1/2 months into the training schedule and I certainly feel the benefits and HR recovery is best I've ever recorded, but I'm only up to 6m (though all running), so a good way to go yet... I've a problem with my left knee which seems to come and go, but otherwise ok. The golden rule is, of course, to stay injury free, so when the car door slammed on my right leg with the wind today, I was well miffed but thankfuuly it's just bruised. I put one leg out to get out of the car and remembered I hadn't got a pen for crossing off my shopping list items! Durgh! - next thing 'Whoosh' - a sudden gust just caught the car door... ouch!

(Whoa... had a 502 error when trying to post earlier so thought this site had been shut down... tried again and it posted!)

so just to add:

Hopefully tomorrow will be better than last Sunday to get a longer one in, ha ha, I know, 6m is def not long... it's important though to keep all increments positive for motivation... any negatives only serve tyo be detrimental.

Can't believe that you are planning another one. I think that it was in 2006 that I saw you when I was walking the C2C at a more leisurely pace.

Nor can I Harland mate! You've got to have something to aim for though - 'time and tide ...' 'while I still can', an' all that. Planning some changes...

Yes, I was changing footwear as I recall. Never used that facility since. It's usually been too late going either way so I started relying more on Park House and have always found them to be very hospitable hosts.

I'm looking for that necessary bit of motivation now...

Route is loaded into phone, back up directions printed and double sealed... chomping at the bit! Danby Wiske not looking a good destination... still not sure whether a wild camp's permitted in Cumbria yet either. Tracker sorted, I think... (my 'tame expert' long departed...) - battery saver settings on phone were to blame for not allowing apps to run in background, which is why GPX Viewer needed switching on and re-zooming in at every route check. A few niggles on yesterday's 20 miler, but otherwise looking good. Just off to buy some better shoes...
