Does anyone know if there is accommodation in one of the villages between Ulverston and Coniston? I've tried the net with no result. 15 miles on the first day a bit seems tough for us 'oldies'.

'on the net' I meant to say. Pressed the submit button without checking!

I am thinking about doing this walk in September. On looking at the map, I see it is possible to catch a boat (ferry) from Sunny Bank up to Coniston, saving about 5 miles walking. Obviously costs and ferry times may make this less attractive.

You're probably sorted by now but just in case, we stayed at the Church House Inn at Torver on our first night when we did the walk. It's about 10 miles, I think so wasn't too daunting for the first day.

Good luck, hope you enjoy the walk.

Thanks Mollie! No not too late, we haven't sorted it all out yet so will look into that one.
