Has anyone heard of or done the walk from the Dutch Coast to Nice on the Mediterranean?
It called the GR5. I fancy doing the halfway walk from Geneva to Nice across the Northern and Mediterranean Alps which takes about 3 to 4 weeks at 20 to 30klm a day.
Anyone know anyone who I can get in touch with who has done it, or knows of a Sherpa like company who can assist?

Can Sherpa assist?

I did the route from Geneva,or rather a small town outside of Geneva,to Nice in 1986.Its one hell of a walk and if I am correct the distance is around 350 miles. The main problem was the heat on the southern section. Also some of the climbs are monsters, almost 25-30 miles. There was one bit on the southern section that is still vivid. It translated from the French as "passage dangerous" and it was.Hopefully with the passing of time it will have made it safer.

Give it four weeks and you should be okay.I think around 20km per day is the max if you take into account the climbing, altitude and heat.

Thanks tonyk.

Can you remember the names of any books, documents, etc., that you acquired before doing the walk? Was there any porter service, or did you carry everything?

Went in a book shop here today but drew a blank.
