Hi All

after doing the penine way in 2006 can't get another pass from the wife for a LDW until 2008 so this year am aiming to do Ben Nevis, Scafell and Snowdon not in a crazy challenge but one each day staying overnmight after each ascent. Anyone have any accomodation ideas close the start of each mountain??

any advice on these walks gratefully appreciated.

Cheers for now

Andy

Andy. What sort of a wife is it you have that rations your long distance walks ? Many divorces have been on lesser grounds than that.

Hi Andyomper,
You should have no problems with
Ben Nevis unless things have altered
since we were there,
the people at Fort William could not have been more helpful.
i can not say about Snowden and Scafell
as when we walked them we did walk them in a weekend with transport in between
Gooodluck

Hi,

There are plenty of B&B places in Llanberis for Snowdon. It would depend on where you intend to start your ascent from as regards Sca Fell. There are a few B&Bs and camping sites in areas.

Hello Andy

I've always done the National Peaks in 24 hours but I've fancied doing it like you propose in a week. I have stayed at several places in Fort William so I suppose it depends what sort of accommodation you want. The Grand Hotel in the centre of Fort William was great and not expensive. The Cruachan Hotel nearby was great. Bear in mind there is Glen Nevis YH opposite the start of the path.

Scafell Pike. The Wastwater Hotel was great but you also have the option of staying somewhere nearby e.g. St Bees - I'm sure Steve at Abbey farm could assist or Carole at Stonehouse Farm.

Llanberis. It depends which route you intend to take. The tourist path goes up from Llanberis and there are a number of B & B in Llanberis. I'm trying to remember the hotel we stayed at but it eludes me at present. If ytou intend going up from Pen Y Pas there is the youth hostel which is very good.

Good luck.

Thanks for the sound advice all! I think we want to avoid the tourist path as much as poss on Snowdon so we'll probably go up from Pen Y Pas!

Journeyman, If you're staying at Abbey Farm in St Bees owner Steve might also transport you to and from Snowdon and Ben Nevis if you ask him nicely and pay his modest fare.
