Hi
Am thinking of spending a few days walking in Derbyshire and have come across the White Peak walk. Does anyone have any experience of it? Hoping to use my bivvy bag if the weather is good. any advice?

Hi Ray,

Which White Peak Way are you doing as I understand there are a couple? I did one which is part of the Land's End to John O'Groats walk. It covers about 35 miles from Thorpe to Edale. This is a very easy walk but somehow I don't think it is the one you will be doing.

Thanks J and R.
It is the one you mention......this year we are thinking of doing a short way with opportunities to do some side walks along the way.
Did a couple of nights in a bivvy last year and even though we are far too old for it we are hoping to do more this year.

Did you do the full LE to JOG trail?

I live in the Peak District and have done "this walk " a number of times.
There are a number of derivatives of the walk ie. "The Limestone way" see Derbyshire County Council web site its one they invented. The one I prefer is the Limey Way which is very similar Edale to Thorpe, in 2 Days or one if you are fit, this was made by John Merrill a famous local walker. I can let you know about every inch of it if you are interested.

the White Peak Walk is a 26 mile challenge walk, starting and finishing in Monyash, very popular. I can also tell you about this if you wish

Thanks JoeO. sorry I didn't get back to you but we managed to have transport with us so rather than doing an A to B walk decided to do several circular ones.
Stayed at Hartington YHA which was excellent value.
