Anyone any experience of having this?? I have tendonitis in my foot at the base of my big toe... my doctor says I should give up hill walking etc but I'm only 29 and live for such things so dont really want to give up and live a "sit down" life.. Any information on treatments or personal experience would be gratefully received..

thanks Becca

You'll get all sorts of responses to your cry for help, and everyone's case is different.
Some cases need rest, others need different footwear.
Believe your doctor will prove to be overpessimistic, and follow the lead of a couple of my friends: go privately to a podiatrist, who will most probably see you for no charge initially, and get some professional advice. This could save you months of misery, and with a bit of luck you'll soon be buying maps for next year's hikes.
Good luck.

Hi Becca
I have just had 6 weeks off walking for something similar. It is called plantar facia.....something, but the tendon from heel to toes on both feet has been damaged. painful, throbbing heels, hardly put my foot to the floor first up in the morning, then eases right off. Also developed a spur, which apparently is par for the course with something like this. Really a pain as after walking the C2C last October, then resting, was just starting back training for NZ walks next year when it happened.
Good luck, let me know how you get on.
Cheers,
Peter.
