Hi All,
Well after the health scare with my wife, I can tell you that she is over the trauma of it all, and its time to get down to finally doing this Pennine Way thing.
I have put off the start date several times in the last weeks due to work commitments and the lousy weather, but decided if I didnt get it done by the first week in September, it would have to wait until next year.
I am intending to start on Friday 29th August, and hope to arrive in Kirk Yetholme by Sunday 7th September. My schedule actually spans 9 days, but apart from lack of my usual fitness and carrying a niggling groin strain, I have built in a contingency day. Will I manage it, will I get bored with it, is it too much to take on considering my lack of walking lately, only time will tell. All these negative thoughts are not going to get me there, I know, so I am trying to think positive, and enjoy the experience no matter what. Are these old legs up to it - you bet they are!
Dave.
