Having met up with you at Keld last time, when I was going the other way, then should I try and talk you out of it - NO! Go for it, look at the weather forecast for a period of good settled weather, take a bivi bag and walk from dawn till dusk!

I am too old, heavy etc for a fast walk so my excuse is that I walk slower so that I can enjoy the view but if that is what is your goal the go for it. I used to run marathons, not that I was ever going to win it but for the feeling of pushing myself to the limit and achieving what I set out to do. Having said that on a pound for pound basis I think that I would have beaten those who won the race only weighing in at about 7/8 stone - they wouldn't have been so quick if they had to carry an extra 8 stone on their back!

The army does it in 5 days with full battle pack, so you could easily do it providing you had well organised support. What would it be......? 40 miles/day, 16 hrs on, 8 hrs off, 2.5 mph average.
A UK postman can do it easily......or so I'm told.

At 4.2 miles a hour that UK postmen say that they have to achieve they could do it in 3 days and deliver letters as well!

Not chance, you failed last time and you will fail again.Wrong gait, wrong mindset, worried about a bit of a rain, spent too much time boozing in Danby Wiske, and then moaned about a bit of knee pain.Call yourself a fell runner?

Go for it.Last time you had the bad luck of lousy weather coupled with not being fully fit.Get fit, stay injury free, pick the right time and you will do it.

Geoff Bell's observation comes to mind:
'Armchair planning is one thing, actually doing it is rather different' (on his five day unsupported Pennine Way)
I don't think I lingered too long at Danby Wiske... but I certainly did at the Lion Inn. Taking on calories was most time consuming and I would place more reliance on a shop-bought 'pork pie' diet. One thing is for sure, small problems add up...
How did your attempt go Tony?
