How's that knee coming on Dave? My problem is wrists which doesn't directly affect walking as long as I'm careful with gates etc. but it's going to start affecting my ability to afford to go on these long adventures... It's most likely RSI from 40 odd years wielding a squeegee...

Looking at my route it's hard to see how I could get that extra necessary 9m in on day 2. Being more 'on top' of day 1 would help, an earlier start and drier conditions on the tops. I'm also thinking that an E-W is probably a better choice as it would be more likely to get to Keld going this way (though I didn't last time - again with this knock-on effect) the biggest climb of the route would then come early on day 3 with a less steep up than coming the other way tackling Mallerstang Edge's steeper side later in the day...
all part of the 'post mortem'...

Mick, the knee is on and off. I did a 27 miler in the Peak on Sunday, started bothering me on the descents after about halfway. Sore and some swelling on arriving home but nothing too serious. Don't know how it would manage on a multi dayer though.
Mike, Hedhogs. My last pair 2014 model, are not as good as any pair I have had before. Lighter but without the same upper support.
Now they have totally confused me with what they have brouhgt out since. Have a look at all these Hedghogs.

No good asking me Mike... I don't do Goretex or Hedgehogs - they look overpriced to me for a shoe you get at best 500m out of... I only got 200m out of my last 710's. I would advise a 12mm drop though as those with less drop seem to sacrifice cushioning - all depends on what you want 'em for...
cheers
mick

Mick. Mine went after about 300mile but that included a lot of Canal side walking, still i was dissapointed as they have been the most comfortable I`ve had for years. Any recomendations??

Looking on that website at the Hedgehogs, it looks like those 'Hike' models are the nearest to what I had before the last ones. Last years model2014 that were lighter are more like what they are now calling Hedgehog Fastpack Light.
Ive got my eye on those 'Hike' version mid boots as well as the shoes.
Dave.
