At 8pm on BBC2 this evening is the first of a series of six programmes with Julia Bradbury on walks along disused railway tracks, this week 'The Peak Express'.

As the Coast To Coast doesn't follow a disused railway track it won't be in this series.

I have to correct you LL, because the C2C does follow a railway track on The North York Moors. It would be quite interesting to see what Bloworth Crossing looked like in the golden age of steam!

No, the fact that the Coast To Coast path follows a railway track ( disused eighty years ago ) for about five of its 190 miles hardly makes it a Railway Walk.

After the Lion Inn, there is the Rosedale loop. Now that's a proper railway walk, complete with old iron works, brick worker housing, bridges, all in ruins. Oh, and lots of grand views.
Makes a great extra day on the C2C or stop at Rosedale instead of the Lion Inn, then on to Grosmont.

For those interested in history there are some fascinating photographs on
www.subbrit.org.uk/sb-sites/r/rosedale/index.shtml .
