Hello all

Found your forum a couple of days ago when searching for information on a coast to coast walk, and have been busy reading it since. Lots of useful information to take in, so thank you.

Anyway, I plan to walk coast to coast the first two weeks of June, either starting the 1st or the 2nd depending upon travel plans. Camping along the way, wild camp, campsite, wild camp, campsite etc etc.

Still quite a bit to do, mainly buy some maps and start to plan an exact route. I plan to stick roughly to the 'official' route, but ultimately the goal is to get from west to east and for it to be enjoyable along the way.

Just saying hi really - might even see some of you along the way

Good luck, I am sure you will have a great time. At the end I am sure you will start thinking what next! For something different then try the Pennine Way, for something broadly similar then try the West Highland Way. Let us know what you liked and I am sure that others will give you good guidance. Anyway, whatever the weather, have fun.

Hi Harland

I did the WHW a couple of years back during one cold Easter - only took a 2 season bag and had one or two rather cold nights, hah.

I actually thought about the Pennine Way this time, but decided since I only have 12, possibly 11, days it would be a bit too much of a challenge, plus I like the thought of travelling coast to coast.

I planed to do the C2C in july but after pricing the B+B on a 15 day trip it worked out to be very expensive.
Thinking about doing it by way of camping should work out cheaper.
The only problem is I will be taking my Dog so will have to carry more kit.
Best of luck.

Andy thats exactly why I'm camping, well that and it allows more flexibility as to how far to walk each day.

I'll post up details of where I stayed on my return - and also where you buy dog food from smile

Ummm, can't remember who its made by.... but it a little 1/2 man tent which has survived some pretty nasty weather before so should be up for the job - heres hoping... I seem to think it cam from Balcks

When I did the WHW my pack was a little under 10 kgs without water or food, so maybe 13 kgs all in. Having said that my kit has got better over the past few years so it might be reduced further. Have to give it a weight up soon.

May see you as I am walking around this time.

I have just purchased the vango tempress 2 man tent 2.5 kg for 89.00 from Go Outdoors. it has a fantastic review from forums is three season and recomended as a tent for doing the duke of Edinbough award. alloy poles and aparently bullet proof in stong winds, although I will update this forum on how it performed.

Best of luck

Mark
