Hi Tim!
and to everyone else who is starting W-E end May early June.

The two of us are leaving RHB on Thurs 28th May travelling from East to West over 15 days. ( After doing W-E 4yrs ago I said I would love one day to do it E-W )

I've got no idea what percentage of people do it this way, but we're likely to be few.

So, if you encounter a smiling (hopefully) couple coming towards you, be sure to say hello!!

And mention that you saw this on the message board!!!

Richard & Lisa

Hi Mark. All the best for your walk also. I'll keep my eyes peeled for a little Vango tent perched up on hill somewhere. I suppose it depends upon our respective walking speeds and starting dates as to whether I'll see you.

Have a great time either way!

Richard & Lisa. All the best for you walk also, I'm sure we'll pass at some point along the way. If its raining don't expect me to be too cheery smile

I've got no idea how many people do the walk in either direction - not sure whether I'll be mainly walking alone or with others ahead and behind...

What maps are people taking with them? I was thinking of 1:50000 of the lakes, and then a set of strip maps - either Harvey or Footprint?

I'm wondering about that too, and was thinking of just the strip maps. Any thoughts?

I found last night that you can DL the OS strip maps. So I'm going to print them out and see what they look like - might save buying any maps altogether..!

Yes I do Nancy!

walkingplaces website, under coast to coast section. They download as four pdf files. I'm gonna print them off on the works plotter to scale

Fantastic! Good find Tim, i love reading OS maps even if i've got no intention of going there, especially with all the extra info these have got.
I wonder why OS stopped producing them...?

Morning onlyme, looks like I'll be a couple of weeks ahead of you.

Wild camping, i.e. camping not on a campsite. Pitch late, leave early
