Can anyone recommend a nice place to eat in Ilkley for me? I particularly like to eat typically english pub grub or fish & chips. I'll be staying at Archway Cottage, so anywhere within reasonable distance would be good to know about (before tackling the initial 14 miles the next day).

I've tried searching on the internet for good places to eat but wondered if anyone could give me a personal recommendation?

Regards

There's ;
Bar T'at, a corney name if ever there was one but its renowned for the quality of its food, or
the Riverside Hotel, with meals served until early evening.

If you can persuade yourself away from pub grub,of which you'll see plenty in the following week, there's a very nice Italian restaurant on the west side of Brook Street, and a cheaper one on the road that runs east off Brook Street, just to the south of the railway station.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone.

Probably a good idea to avoid pub grub before setting off as I'm guessing you might well be right about being a tired of it by the end of the week!

Well you must be tired of life if you can get tired of pubs after just a week.

Don't think I'll be tired of the pubs LL - maybe just the gammon, egg & chips I'll probably choose from the menu every night! grin

Well, yes, I would tire of gammon and eggs every night, especially if was eggs each breakfast and egg sandwiches in the packed lunches - no good for your chlorestrol, unless you can manage a good walk each day !
Have a good trip.

LOL!

Looking forward to the Dales Way walk but needless to say -

Hoping to avoid the 'trips' if possible!
