Hello guys, me and 5 others are doing C2C in a couple of weekends, and spending a Saturday night in Alston or Nenthead.

Does anybody know any pubs here that show live sports on tv, like Sky Sports?

Thanks in advance!

A bit north of the usual route, Alston and Nenthead aren't they ?
Common sense to seek out pubs on the way but surely the whole point of such a walk is to get away from crap like Sky Sports.

you will be lucky to find food never mind sky tv, the proper-ganda machine of capitalism.

Why do you give this company your money, remeber when sport was free on BBC and ITV, then came sky pumping cash in to it, now you are paying for posh beckhams hairstyle and Davids porcsh, as well as the shareholders holidays. do us all a faver and dont promote sky tv on the coast to coast. it is all we have left of England.

Welcome to the forum duranwasp

No you did not hit a nerve you missed by two inches, dont take it personal, we are just C2C nuts and love it as it is. we dont want it to become a blackpool with people having sex in the mountings, leaving condoms all over the place.

I canot realy help you as I am a true backpacker who camps under the stars with a fire and detest people who stay in bed and breakfast with their little packed lunches made for them wraped in a paper bag.

if you need advice on killing rabits or lighting fire in woods or wearing the same pants for a week then I am your man.

Sorry I could not help you.

It's supposed to be a walking forum so I won't get into too much debate, but I can't let your remarks pass without comment Mark. Yes, football was free on BBC - the FA cup final, one match a year! Now on Sky we have live matches almost on demand. As the saying goes, you get what you pay for. Just because I'm a keen walker and camper doesn't mean I can't enjoy watching sports does it? I love to watch football, both on TV and going to games. Doesn't mean I'll be shagging in the mountains and littering the countryside.

There's too many midges around to go shagging in the countryside, anyway!

Maybe I've been lucky on that score then. Only occasionally do they bother me. Maybe they're like mosquitoes and don't like garlic or marmite. Or is that a myth?
