I am planning to walk the Pennine Way next year Staying in B+Bs. Want to walk from Edale to Hebden Bridge in two days. I cannnot find anywhere roughly half way between Edale and Hebden Bridge to stay the second night. The old house Crowden seams not quite far enough. Standedge too far, also now globe farm has closed down im not sure how easy it will be to find anything there anyhow. Any advice would be apreciated.

Dropping down to Marsden is your best bet.Its quite a hard walk from Edale to Marsden so allow about 12 hours.

Tony, what is the PM service..? I might be able to do my own web page but I'm still a bit of a thickie on some things... (well most things really)! Have you got an automatic spam bouncing facility... I might not be getting through... Got to go to tesco but I'll give it another go 1st...

You could walk as far as the A635 Wessenden Head and then get a lift, taxi or walk to Holmfirth 3.5 miles. There are B&Bs listed there. Getting a lift should be ok as a lot of people stop at the burger van on the roadside.

Hi Romur,
Has someone taken over from Snoopy's in the Saddleworth layby? Having stood for years there he retired. Another van stood about a mile nearer to Holmfirth, but not at the PW crossing. It must be 2yrs since I was last there though. A good few yrs back, we stopped off there enroute to Blackpool hoping to find the snack van, but he wasn't there. We had people coming up asking for bacon sandwiches as our old motor caravan then looked more like a snack van!

There was a van at the PW crossing at the end of July this year, very welcome on a rotten day but unfortunately no shelter.
