After a successful crossing of the Coast to Coast in May this year, I've decided to do the Cleveland Way in early September.

I'll probably start/finish at Saltburn-by-the-Sea, getting the bus from Scarborough to Helmsley. I'm also camping all the way, maybe do some wild-camping where possible.

If you want, you can actually walk a complete loop using the path leaving the Way on the north side of Scarborough going all the way to Helmsley.

Yes, I like the idea of doing a complete loop. But I'm a bit short on time to do that, I need to get back home on the Friday, to get ready for a week-end walking in the Lake District, doing Striding Edge.

But Saltburn down to Scarborough, get a bus to Helmsley and so on to Saltburn will be fine.

Sorry, the Cleveland Way is now cancelled. The double Coast to Coast bike ride is taking place instead.

What should of been done in 2009, is now going to be done in 2010. Yes, next month, hoping on dates getting sorted. I will be back-packing the route and maybe bivvy some nights.

So, again watch this space wink.

Oh, yes. It's still on, the Cleveland Way. Pity I was'nt doing the Coast to Coast. Oh well, the Cleveland Way is a nice walk and can still pop into the Bay Hotel watching you tired Coast to Coast walkers struggling on down the bank to the Bay.

I was thinking about walking the Cleveland Way in reverse this August, but due to the lack of walking this year. I may now be thinking of walking the Cleveland Way and the Tabular Hill's Walk instead, why not. Just thought, I would keep the Cleveland Way thread up to date.

A fine alternative. Free parking in Helmsley and some good scenery ... especially in late August when the heather will be out. Watch out for me en route ......... that is the only disadvantage that springs to mind!
