I just wanted to say on behalf of my friends and I that if you are planning to walk The Dales Way I strongly promote the Jolly Anglers B&B as a place to stay in Burneside just outside Kendal.

We recently passed through there and had an extremely comfortable stay, the rooms were clean and the food was excellent. We made good friends in Carly & Tom who run the B&B and pub and we will definitely go back again.

Just thought it might be useful for anybody else planning their trip.

Just to add to husband and I walked the Way last week and were camping but on the long (pretty strenuous) day into Burneside the heavens opened. We were completely soaked and at half past seven arrived at the Jolly Anglers. The sign said no vacancies but I asked on the off chance and there was a room free. Carly was fantastic. She wouldn't let us get up to order drinks, opened the kitchen for us and made us feel really welcome. We managed to get all our clothes and boots dry before setting off the next day to Bowness. Much appreciated!!

Absolutely agree. Carly is a fantastic and welcoming host. Her motto: 'whatever suits my guests suits me'. Had had a hard day walking from Sedbergh to Burneside, and the welcome more than made up for it...

It's a brave accomodation provider who proclaims "whatever suits my guests suits me".
Let's hope that only us respectable walkers use her establishment and that word of her generosity doesn't reach the varied assortment of weirdos that inhabit parts of these islands.
