Now the ever important question:

How best to get to Edale and from Kirk Yetholme at the end of the trail.....

Any suggestions?

London Kings Cross to Sheffield, change for Edale.Takes about 30 minutes from Sheffield but the service is infrequent.

Kirk Yetholm.Bus to Kelso, bus to Berwick, then East coast mainline to London.

Bus leaves Kirk Yeholm around 10am.It takes around three hours to get to Berwick.

Hello, there is a good all year service by train from Sheffield or Manchester. Trains run about every hour, apart from a couple of times with a 2 hour gap.Last train is usually about 10 pm. Also there is good bus service to Hope from Sheffield, and a lift is easy to get.Best wishes

I am thinking of flying into Manchester and taking in a few museums. (Too bad it's not ruby season.)

Does anyone know a decent place to stay in Manchester? All I'm finding are international chain hotels and boutique hotels charging 250 pn/pp.

Manchester YHA http://www.yha.org.uk/hostel/hostelpages/194.html

I stopped there last year on my way up to St Bees. It's a lovely place beside the canals.

You are not too far from the bus station at Chorley St [taxi 4]
check out www.nationalexpress.com for 2005 bus timetable.
