The White Swan in Danby Wiske is offering camping again, though the pub is still shut.
There's a sign in the window about the camping and facilities.
Looks like work has started on restoring the pub as well.

That's really good news as there is nowhere around that area to eat. We did go there in 2008 it's such a lovely village pub. I hope they do well.

This pub seems to be open on a limited basis again, selling snacks and bottled drinks and beers through the day on a take-away basis.

Are they now back to just selling the same packets of crisps that Wainwright complained so bitterly about when he first went there? It's funny how eventually these things always seem to go full circle!

We are just back from our c2c walk, we spoke to the new owners, Steve Knight & Gill Danby, they said that they are planning to thave the pub reopen in March 2010. Until then as per above basic facilities available.

Had a peek round the back yesterday morning... I wonder if the new owners are living in the Swift motor caravan till the pub reopens..?

Yes....that is their home until March. If you can't find them at the pub, nip down the road to the village hall, they do a fine pot of tea and there was a fine supply of scones and cakes when we were there.
