Hi scaredovheights

Another one going in early May! Wish I had booked a bit earlier now.....and we could have got each other over the scary high bits. grin
I hope to meet people along the way, don't know if I will as I am setting off on a Wednesday frown

Thanks running man.

You are doing the whole walk in 8 days shocked Hope you doggies enjoy it. I would have liked to take our Lurcher but you would need major lifting gear to extract him from the sofa! He is very lazy and also getting on a bit, I only really take him on 4 mile walks now.

Keld Lodge is meant to be really nice now - and more expensive as you say. They do have an offer on for Winter though, 50.00 per person/night for Dinner (3 course), Bed and Breakfast - minimum of 2 nights stay. I am looking to book a weekend away with my husband......well it needs testing before I use it on the coast to coast walk wink

Keld bunkhouse is really nice when we stayed this year and is prob a bit cheaper than the lodge. The owners had just done it out and it has drying room, new bathroom and bedrooms and they cooked us all a meal for an extra fiver.

I love this site, it fires me up everytime I log on here when I read of next years plans. We are doing the c2c again (2nd time) starting from St. Bees on 8th June so, by the look of it, most of you will be over, home and indoors before we even get our bags packed.

Is there anyone doing it in June??
Is there anybody out there?......

Nice thought Calluna. I wish you were at least setting off after I return as I could of reported back on the heights. That said the posts on here have given me more confidence that we will be fine grin

It's a nice thought that so many of us will be out on the c2c at the same times even though at different places.

Hi Scaredovheights,
I'll do my best to leave the room at Keld Lodge in a satisfactory state, although by that stage in the walk we'll probably be dead on our feet and may have to be dragged out of the bed kicking and screaming!!!

If you're walking at a faster rate, you'll probably overtake us a couple or so days afterwards, won't you?

By that stage, you will be well adjusted to getting up and walking every day and raring to go!! Plus at Keld you will have the wonderful choice between the spectacular climb up Swinner Gill and over to Gunnerside or to go down the beautiful Swale, which will give you an added spring to your step.

smile I'm sure you're right bliss 60, it was a tongue in cheek remark.

I've read about the alternative walks from Keld. It seems that some people would prefer the low route even in good weather.

Which would be your (or anyone else's)preference?

Always up and over instead of around smile

Actually its pretty bleak on top, think wide tracks and fairly flat for a longish section. However, exploring the mines is good fun. Just watch out because some of building are a little dodgy...

You could do a bit of both, go up high and then cut down into the valley later on. Best of both worlds maybe...
