Anyone done the C to C in June? If so, whats the temperature like through the day? Will I need a fleece and woolly hat, does it get cold through the day?

I'll be off by 8.30am and in B&B hopefully by 5pm every day.

Trying to put together an equipment list

Loads of us have done C2C in June

Temperature varies between 30C and 0C

You will need a fleece and woolly hat

It does get cold through the day

Look at Page 4 of this C2C forum for an extensive discussion of Kit, a thread started by markydrive, I think

There were days in June and July this year when I wore full winter gear working on the fells. I was best man at a wedding on June 5th many years ago and we cleared snow from the porch before the service. Two days later a heatwave started that lasted until September 17th!!!! However, there have been January days when I have been in shirt sleeves! You can't tell ... and certainly this far ahead there is no way of knowing. It is worthwhile remembering that the weather on such as Nine Standards can change several times in a day. You must have warm gear and waterproofs with you, but the saving grace is that today they are both effective and lightweight if you choose wisely.

I did the c2c this year from July 12th to 27th. I wore a tank top and shorts some days, full rain gear on three days that it poured non-stop from morning till night (even the B&B owner said she couldn't remember the last time it had rained day and night without stopping even for a moment (weren't we lucky!!!).
In the Lakes and on top of Nine Standards we needed fleeces, hats and mitts it was so cold. You never can tell - hope for the best and prepare for the worst :):)

You take your winter hat AND your summer hat even if you're using a baggage transfer (four seasons in one day)

Anyone completing the latter parts of C2C in the late afternoon of Sept 1st this year walked across the NYM in one of the most violent rainstorms I have personally experienced. An hour of pitch black skies, torrential rain mixed with hailstones and virtually zero visibility. (I know some were in the area because I had spoken to them earlier over Glaisdale). Two weeks later a friend completed the walk over 2 weeks without a drop of rain anywhere! You really can't predict he weather.

ok so flip flops and bemuda shorts can stay at home then?

I'll go prepared! at least if I have them and it's nice I can take them off, but if I dont have them and it turns nasty - I can't put them on!
