Hi HB.

My wife and I along with some friends are walking the the WHW and GGW starting in June. We have all the B&Bs booked, baggage transfer booked and like you and your friends we're in training. To add to the enjoyment of the walk my wife and I celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. On the night of our anniversary we are stopping at Anchorage cottage which from pictures I have seen looks very picturesque and ideal for our anniversary.

As we build up to our start date I will check for any walk report that you publish on this site.

Pete.

We carried all our own gear and stayed at Anchorage Cottage.
We got there early afternoon, dropped our gear off and walked on rucsac free the few miles to Rowadennan.
We had a meal and a few beers, then phoned the cottage owners, who came and collected us.
The following morning after breakfast they transported us back to Rowadennan to carry on with our walk.
Dave.

All the b&b's are booked as is the baggage transfers. We just need to have enough dosh for food and a drink or two!

Would love to hear if anyone else is doing it this year.

Hi,We start at the beginning on May.Our train tickets were 26 from Derby to Glasgow and 46.50 from Inverness to Derby. That's a bargain.

I managed to save 10 on my tickets from Blackpool to Edale by splitting the journey. Direct was 27, 2 separate tickets Blackpool to Manchester and then Manchester to Edale, 17!! Where's the sense?

There isn't any.
Last year when I was doing the C2C. I was going to purchase a single to St. Bees for myself and a return for my wife who was returning home after I set off, after 2 nights B&B.
I ended up getting two returns as a return ticket was cheaper than the single.

You're right Slogger there isn't any sense in ticketing on trains or National Express...... oh don't get me started, it's early and the old fella would rather see a big smile first thing in the morning!!!

We found the Premier Inn in Milngavie to be a great place to stay. Very clean, pretty good food and they let me leave my car there for the whole week for no charge. I documented our experience of the WHW and the places we stayed at here:
