Hi all,
doing the WHW in the summer(2010)but i want to do the C2C the following year and wondered if anyone was planning to do the C2C as well.........would you mind if i tagged along. It seemingly takes approx 12 days and would rather not do it alone.Willing to hostel/b&b all the way or to wild camp.Happy to discuss/decide upon an itinery if anyone would allow a(not very experienced or over-fit)early 40's guy tag along.
Thankyou.

Evening

Nothing like prior planning...

If you B&B / hostel you'll meet plenty of people along the way who you will most likely be able to walk with most days. If you're wild camping things become a little more disjointed and depending on your schedule plus starting / stopping times you might find you never meet another C2C'er some days.

My first posting so hi everyone.

Im also at the mental planning stage for the C2C in 2011 to celebrate my 60th , possibly late May or June. As Tim says Ive heard its a busy route so there should be plenty of company on the wayI would be using B& Bs and starting out on my own. Enjoy the WHWI did it in May 2008, not a drop of rain all week, and followed up with the Great Glen Way this year.
Anyway, keeping posting, and if anyone else is looking ahead to 2011 be good to hear from you.

Tim's advice is very good. I'd think carefully before making joint arrangements in advance with someone you've never met. 12 days is a long time to spend in close company with someone new. You'll meet plenty of people along the way, and if you find you get on well you'll naturally fall into step, but with no commitment beyond the stage you happen to be on.

Couldn't agree more ..started the WHW in a group of 12 but by the end of day one smaller groups had developed based on walking pace, personalities and so on. Unless you are a dedicated lone walker it's just comforting to know there will be others around at the start.

If you stay in hostels and start on a summer weekend it will be almost impossible to do the walk on your own! It will be quite possible to join in with a group or individual for a days section with, as Black Sailor rightly says, no commitment beyond that day and, if things do go pear shaped you can just walk ahead or drop back and leave them. You can then retry with a different group/individual the next day.

You will also get the chance to vary the company that you walk with which can add to the pleasure of your walk. Arranging to walk with an unknown person for a number of days can spoil the pleasure if you don't gel. You could, if you are really unlucky, come back as an expert on youtube!
