Dear Members.
I am dead/dumb serious, and my only goal is to find information I need. And actually, thanks to your help, I changed my plans renting car to flying to Manchester. Do I have a sense of humor, hopefully yes. I need to make SAFE and SCHEDULED hike, your amusement and my future scenic views along the trail are complimentary. My only book, besides those I mentioned, which I read some time ago was Three Men in a Boat, and according to Wikipedia "The book was initially intended to be a serious travel guide, with accounts of local history along the route," Now about drawing the line... Try to search (use advanced with newer than 1 year) "toilet", and surprisingly the same members, who are laughing loud have the similar concerns and wishes: "1003(a): A male toilet with a floor that doesn't look like the sewer is pumping the sh*t in rather than taking it out. 1003(b): Unblocked urinals." "9. One final lesson, which I also mention in my blog and shall forthwith be known as HackPacker’s First Law of Fellwalking: No matter how remote your path is, no matter how far away from the marked footpath you venture, no matter how much cover you seek and no matter how carefully you check the horizon for any other walkers, when you need to go to the toilet you can guarantee that just as you have squatted down and reached the point of no return, two spritely walkers in their fifties – one usually a grey-haired woman carrying a trekking pole – will emerge from nowhere and walk straight past you. Absolutely guaranteed." "The toilets are shut after closing time." etc With 7000 per year and no facilities you do not need much imagination to see the same as Oldune: "The best places are those nice green picnic areas where hopefully someone following will sit down to eat, only to find that they have sat next to elephant droppings."

So, what was wrong with dear old Atilla ... no mention of him in your list? Not far enough to the right maybe?

it's a little known fact that all the dictators on my list were great walkers and wrote extensively on the subject. For example i'd refer you to the following books :
hitler - mein hike stalin - one steppe after another amin - putting the boot in franco - the costa to costa walk mussolini - the abyssinian way ( the easy route ) pol pot - red route through the killing fields bush - meandering through eyerack ( using the back passage ) pinochet - walking all over allende atilla was more of a piss artist and is in another category of historical figures.....blokes that lived a long time ago about which we know very little

mein kampf translates as 'my struggle' and is infact a diary of his early difficult and challenging walks around europe.
hitlers wild camping is still a matter of some debate amongst historians ; whilst he used a number of routes to achieve his ends and to tackle things on a number of fronts i don't think this alone can be cited as evidence of his camping tendancies.

I wish I knowed as much as you. I was basing my idea on the graffito scratched on the summit of Dollywagon "Adolph was here 1942". A common misconception.
