Not forgetting the obligatory coins that had to be carried so that you could use a payphone in an emergency. This was always a requirement in basic first aid kit in my days!

I was pleased with my Sat Map Active 10 at first even though it always took 3 to 5 mins to get a lock but ( after only a few months of use)I find it does not find a lock at all sometimes. I have tried switching it on and off and sometimes this works but not always. I emailed the support on their website but did not get a reply. Anyone any advice or similar feedback?

I had a similar problem at first .... even ringing them up from the top of the Pennines in thick mist. One of my settings had been corrupted which they fixed over the phone. Try switching it on and giving them a ring. Mine usually locks within a minute now (out of doors)

Did you ring them on the number on the website? I have sent a few emails and have not had a response which is disapointing, I had high hopes as they seemed to be the markrt leader.

I rang them on 08458730101 from above Garrigill after failing to get a lock for some considerable time. Evidently the problem was that there had been a software update to improve the lock which was not on my system. They sent me an SD card to correct it after enabling me to get a lock over the phone.

Yesterday however, I got an email from them informing me of a further update (V1.4) which is available from their website. This has a number of minor additions to its functions which are, in fact, very useful. there is also one which can be purchased which claims, it says, to give 100hours of battery life!!!

If you have registered your satmap with them these updates come regularly via email.
