Is it possible to run half or more of the walking trail in, say, September?

Yes, there are people who do this.
I'm not one of them.
In the north of England, such hardy souls are often known as "fellrunners" - forgive me if you already know that "fell" is a local name for a big hill. A web search for fellrunner or similar might help you find people who can help further, or try Long Distance Walkers Association for additional links.

Google Respect the Stupity. A superb book was written about running the Coast to Coast.

How do you intend to run it? Solo, as a team, or as a relay?
I`v been involved in two relays, both from R.H.B. to St Bees & back again.

Hi Robyn,
yes it is, and a good varied route it is too.
Kate's Dad is referring to this-
Life on the Run
-where the author covers the route supported in 7 days covering around 26m per day.
The record of under 40 hrs set by Mike Hartley still stands from 1991 but 3-4 days is still a tremendous achievement with or without support.
September is as good a time as any and good knowledge of the route will be most helpful in covering distance,
cheers
lwm

Robyn,

I am just in process of planning a solo run for Alzheimer's in June and am adding as much relevant information as I can find in my blog : www.wainwrightcoastrun. This might be useful source in the next couple of weeks (feedback always welcome!). I am just mapping out the course at the moment, by using Matt Beardshall book as the base route.
