Hey Tim, that was always a problem after racing on a freezing cold morning,i.e, putting muscle rub onto ones legs then hunting around for little George afterwards without washing the muscle rub off ones hands. There was always the double agony of the blood returning to the shrunken parts and the livening up of the nervous system to the fact that one had forgotten to wash ones hands. This was always made worse by the instinctive act to gasp the affected part to relieve the burning.

A bit like wiping the sweat off your forehead after a hot curry, then inadvertently touching your eye or nose with the same hand.

Well slowcoach, as you well know, on freezing cold mornings dressed only in silk shorts, George, who used to be a stalwart bragging sort of chap, likes to slink off and hide in the warmest but most inaccessible places and after being in the saddle for a couple of hours non stop, it is necessary to find him quickly before he does something that he would regret.

It was always amusing after an early morning race to see a long line of guys lying in the foetal position in the wet grass along the side of the road, groaning in agony as the blood started recirculating. Their girl friends being quite callous would just stand by chatting to one another waiting for nature to take its course.

I blamed the saddle( bad fit maybe) for making things numb
never went in for racing though
