I walked the ODP path this summer below are some notes on facilities en route:

Chepstow to Tintern
*Bus runs to Sedbury from Chepstow Tescos which is near the train station.
*Walking through housing estates to Chepstow is pretty grotty.
*Camped at Tintern Old Station. Camping field ok but toilet facilities restricted to one disabled toilet for everyone and no shower. Café on site not open to 9.30am and closing 5.30pm
*Good food in Wye Valley Hotel, 500m from Tintern Old Station Campsite.

Tintern to Hendre
*Shop in Redbrook with good range, hot snacks and sandwiches.
*Waitrose supermarket in Monmouth.
*Camped at Rickyard Bunkhouse, Hendre, not recommended, No water from borehole and reluctant to turn on mains. Toilet and shower located in an outer building filled with junk. No campers kitchen as billed on their website. Farm below Rickyard also offers camping.

Hendre to Pandy
*Hogshead pub, Great Treadam was not open at lunchtime (Fri) because of a funeral party in afternoon
*Hunters Moon, Llangattock, was not open at lunchtime.
*Tea, coffee water available in church at Llangattock. Worth a visit, very unusual church.
*Camped a Little Oasis Campsite, Pandy. Eccentric owner, site needs some renovation.
*Ate in the Old Pandy Inn, up the road from the campsite. Food ok but very busy on a Friday night. Does breakfast.
*Garage shop in next village but a bit off trail.

Pandy to Hay on Wye
*Camped at Radnors End campsite just outside town. Small site, camping field ok. Toilet facilities and shower clean and modern but insufficient in number for a popular campsite.
*Ate in the Granary in Hay on Wye, good food if not with a smile.
*Two convenience stores in Hay on Wye.

Hay on Wye to Kington
*Tea,coffee and water in church in Newchurch.
*Royal Oak, Gladestry was serving only baguettes, toasties etc for Sunday lunch.
*Camped at Fleece Meadow Caravan and campsite, Kington, recommended, good toilet/shower facilities and lots of room.
*Ate in Oxford Arms, Kington, not recommended, food ok but smelly and dingy place.
*Convenience store in Kington.

Kington to Knighton
*Church in Dolley Green has toilets and water
*Camped at Panpwnton Campsite just outside Knighton, overgrown grazed field, showers and toilet facilities but very basic.
*Ate in café in afternoon halfway up main street.
*Ate at Horse and Jockey, food good, recommended.
*Two convenience stores in Knighton.

Knighton to Forden
*Convenience store in Montgomery.
*Camped at Heath Cottage, Forden. There is room for two tents in garden. Toilet facilities and shower in house, recommended.
*Ate at Railway Inn a short drive away, food ok. Taken in car by owners of Heath Cottage.
*Shop in garage at Forden but didn’t shop there.

Forden to Four Crosses
*Camped and ate at Golden Lion, Four Crosses. Room for about four tents with space. There was a limited menu at lunchtime because of upcoming music festival. Shower was out of action and no toilet lights. Used shower in adjacent accommodation block.
*Convenience store at garage at other end of village.

Four Crosses to Chirk
*Shop in Trefonen with hot snacks

Chirk to Llangollen
*Good cream tea to be had in Chirk Castle café.
*Camped at Wern Isaf, Lllangollen. A bit of a walk downhill and then uphill in the morning. Llangollen for shops even further. Some of site on slope and toilet/shower facilities need upgrading.
*Two convenience stores in Llangollen.
*Ate in chippy but not great.

Llangollen to Gweryd Lakes (Llanarmon)
*Ate Sunday lunch in Crown Hotel, Pen-y-Stryt, food ok but noting to write home about.
*Camped at Gweryd Lakes, just off trail on a track. Camping field unkempt and toilet block basic with solar powered heating which didn’t work on the cloudy day I was there. Modern toilet and shower in main building that can be used instead. Good café with filled pancakes a speciality, but closed before advertised hour. No useful food provisions on sale in shop.

Gweryd lakes to Bodfari
*Camped at Station House Caravan Park, Bodfari. There is a separate grassed camping area and modern toilet and shower facilities, recommended.
*There is a convenience store in Bodfari. I didn’t shop there.

Bodfari to Prestatyn
*Ate in the Clwydian pub, chain pub food but ok.

With such incredible details you should produce a leaflet on it! Well done.
