Hi everyone, at last I have finished writing up our journal of the coast to coast crossing in June. http://www.fourwalkers.walkingplaces.co.uk/index.htmIf you are feeling bored take a look, you will also find the Hadrian's Wall walk we did in 2009 on the same site.

I've been looking at it and really good, great write-up and photos. I'm doing my 6th C2C in 1.5 weeks time and next year, planning a mountain bike C2C, I would'nt rest.

Thank you flatlands, I don't feel so bad about doing it again now - your 6th time! So it is addictive! Good for you, not sure about the bike thing though, all those hills, you are brave. Well done and I look forward to reading your write up - no pressure! HB

Thanks HB, got to admire you 4 women for doing 200 miles. Not many people at your age, could achieve such miles. The old saying is, you are never too old.
I've a blog set up and will do a walk report and photos on there. Not long now.
Oh, the mountain bike crossing. There is dedicated route for mountain bikers, however, this is done in a week.

Thankyou for sharing your C2C journal. H.B.
Reading the journal's and looking at the photo's,lets people like me relive the walk and the camaraderie of the people you meet that goes with it. I spoted the deer in the photo. gives one itchy feet
thanks again

Just read your journal HB - it's wonderful. We did the C2C in August, and a lot of what you said brought a smile of recognition. Thanks for sharing it. (And I can really see why people do it more than once).

Thank you, it's good to know that it's of interest to others. Writing it up takes ages,(although I do write up a daily journal which helps... a bit) but I love it when it's finished, family and friends (who don't walk) get a better idea of the attraction, the challenge and achievement. They still don't understand why we want to do it again though! Can't you tell that they are not walkers!

I did a write-up and photos on the Wild about Britain website of my 2009 Coast to Coast, it was when I was on Grisdale Tarn, that I decided I'm going to do it again and next week-end it is.
I've tried very b&b, pub in St. Bees and full up. However, I managed to get into guesthouse in nearby Whitehaven, who also transport to St. Bees, which is pretty good service. Although, I could camp up on the cliffs of St. Bees.
One b&b in St. Bees, had said the phone that she is fully booked for the whole of September and into October. Getting to be a popular walk.

Flatlands, I hope that you are successful in finding a B&B in or around St. Bee's and that you have a safe crossing. Do write it up when you get back, it's the write ups that inspires others to do the walk and therefore help the local economy. Best of luck

Best of luck Thanks HB, like I said in my "Whitehaven" thread about not able to get into the B&B I had booked until the evening, so that was cancelled. But I did manage instead, get a B&B in Whitehaven, which is not too bad. However, no trains on Sunday and limited bus service from Whitehaven to St. Bees (runs about 9:35am or been offered a lift to St. Bees from the B&B. I've enjoyed reading your blog and although, I'm a 54 and moan about my knee twinge now and again. I do get inspiration from you and your friends to help me on and will be writing a day-by-day report with plenty of photos and have a blog set up, which will posted on the Walking Places website. However, saying all this, it's with sad news, that the Coast to Coast is my last long distance walk for a few years. I'm taking my other be-loved sport, cycle-touring. But, it's ironic to say, that the Coast to Coast is still haunting me. I'm planning a Mountain Bike Coast to Coast next year -following closely to the Coast to Coast path as much as possible using bridle-ways and back lanes.
