I dunno Dave what have I started here lol..?
Can't seem to zoom in to 25k though on your map but I'll check it out,
cheers

The only thing is Mick, from the end of the path at top of the forest up from Thirlmere, to the top of the path that steeply descends to the main Rosthwaite path, is cross country (no paths). Looks simply enough to navigate with the help maybe of a compass, but not sure about the nature of ground vegetation. I may go and have a look around soon.
Dave.

I staggered around there last Summer. It's very boggy off the path - energy sapping. Take your gaiters.

Good fun though!

Well I'd certainly be staggering at the end of Day 4!
It's looking like Wythburn's up for it... though I'm looking very closely at the schedule at present...

The more I pour over it the more it shouts PRESS ON!
ie
continue past Littlebeck - this would get me to Lordstones before closing time for some more grub
likewise Ing x - food and off - this could put me Nr to Wray Hse...
end of day2 could then see that extra 8m covered to Keld - certainly beyond Cringley Bottom - if only to Gunnerside Gill...
this would make that last 3 slower days shorter. Digging deep on day 4 could see me up to Honister YH or the bothy at the end of the tramway, with something more achievable on those jelly legs for day 5, just hanging in there....
all this paying more attention to diet ensuring max protein intake to maximize tissue repair, but it all comes down to how the feet hold out...

Tell me about it! Bought another pair of North Face Hedgehogs, today a size smaller than than the pair I did my crossing in. I'm going to try them wearing just one pair of socks rather than two pairs like I usually wear.

Give them a call first ... I heard today from a visitor that it is currently shut and may not be reopening. (This is totally unconfirmed)

Would welcome any confirmation.

cheers SC, that would be a shame - I'll call nearer to my date... and carry something from Glaisdale as I did last year just in case anyway
