After recently completing the C2C i am now preparing my itinerary for the WHW.Due to commitments/timescale i will however be reducing the original itinerary by one day and therefore completing the walk in 7 days,meaning from Inverarnan i will omit Crianlarich and instead stop at Bridge Of Orchy.
I will now also be travelling with my partner so if anyone has recently returned from this walk i/we would be very grateful to hear of any decent places on this itinerary which would accomodate the 2 of us(i will be without the tent now,so b&b' at the least).

Ok so we arrive in Milngavie on Friday 17th September and will be starting the walk on the Saturday(18th).Anyone starting the same time?

The 21 miles from Bridge-Of-Orchy to Kinlochleven near the end of September with the evenings setting in,and leaving B-O-O at approx 9am(after breakfast),we hope this will take about 7 hours and thus doable before darkness!

In May 2008 I managed to leave Bridge of Orchy at 08.05 after breakfast at the hotel, I was waiting to get served when they started! I don't walk quickly and got to Kinlochleven by 17.20.

I, along with the other old gals are planning to do the WHW in May next year. We just need to confirm dates and then I can get the bookings made hopefully before too long as I understand that some of the B&B's on this route can get booked up quickly.

I shall keep you posted on progress

Alma View Fort William 01397-704115 - The guy was going to stop B&B so you would probably need to look for somewhere else if you are staying the night. I was continuing along the Great Glen Way. The youth hostel at Rowardennan is a must as is the the stop at Bridge of Orchy, both have lovely locations although the pub is about half a mile away from the youth hostel at Rowardennan!

Ok guys it's all booked. It was fairly easy to do although a couple of places were a bit pricey so I had to shop around. Being retired, English and on a tight budget doesn't help.

But we have stayed in some really interesting places over the years; ended up doing the dishes in Tan Hill Inn: Not because we couldn't afford to stay there, but because we are like that.

We now have to start our training as we are starting the walk in May, but our diaries are all so full with other 'important' stuff!!

Happy New Year to everyone. Well next year is here! Training for the WHW is now in the diary, boy was that difficult, not the thought of walking, but trying to fit it in with everything else that is going on.

I thought that I would have time on my hands once I retired, but not so, I'm just as busy as I was when I had to play mummy to a Directorate team! I took off my watch and put it in a drawer, never wanting to have to work to time, but the diary is still in good use.

Is there anyone else planning to do WHW in May 2011?

A quick update, we are enjoying our training, the weather has been kind and we are getting excited as we only have a few weeks before the start of the walk.

I booked the train tickets online and got a bargain. From Stowmarket to Glasgow for three old gals with old gals rail cards we paid £58.60. Our return from Fort William to Stowmarket £93. All the b&b's are booked as is the baggage transfers. We just need to have enough dosh for food and a drink or two!
